OK here is what happend. I have seen numerous threads on replacing my mono leaf spring with the the 4 leaf springs pack off of a four door explorer. So I ordered the srings off of a 2000 ford explorer code F. I brought my car to the shop this morning and about an hour and a half later I get a call at work saying the leafs dont fit. They told me the new leafs are 2" inches to short. The shackels on the new leafs cant be used, but i cant remember the reason why? Something about the new ones are under the frame mounted and the ones on there now are mounted to the frame? The center bolt is 1 1/4 inches back from the ones i have on there now, which would bring the rear axle back and that would cause rubbing when ever i hit a big bump. And undo torche on the axle?

I really dont know much about working on cars which is why I brought it to a shop to have the leafs done. But I have seen numerous threads on this and it seemed like it was pretty straight forward and easy to do.

If anyone could give me some help on the subject I would really aprecciate it. Thanks in advance for any comments or suggestions.

They must have ordered the wrong leaves. My center holes only moved like 1/2" when I went from the mono leaf to the 4 door leaves

What wrong leafs????
I thought any leaf pack from 1990 to 2001 would fit. Im sure thats what every thread I have read has said.

What you described as their answer sounds like they're comparing Ranger leaves to Explorer leaves. The Rangers have shackles that mount to the side of the frame, where our Explorers have shackles that hang down under the frame. But if you ordered the springs from an Explorer, they should work, unless your shop is on crack. What I was saying, are you sure that you got Explorer leaves and not Ranger leaves ~ like, did the supplier screw up?

Guess what! They sent me the wrong leafs.

I called the parts place back and had them double check the part number and it turns out they sent me some Ranger leafs.

I should get the Explorer leafs in a few day and we will try this agian.

Thanks to everyone who wrote in to help!

Sweet... gotta love when you call the suppliers mistake.. I bet they probably just grabbed Ranger leaves thinking "Eh, an Explorer is just a Ranger platform..."
