OK here is what happend. I have seen numerous threads on replacing my mono leaf spring with the the 4 leaf springs pack off of a four door explorer. So I ordered the srings off of a 2000 ford explorer code F. I brought my car to the shop this morning and about an hour and a half later I get a call at work saying the leafs dont fit. They told me the new leafs are 2" inches to short. The shackels on the new leafs cant be used, but i cant remember the reason why? Something about the new ones are under the frame mounted and the ones on there now are mounted to the frame? The center bolt is 1 1/4 inches back from the ones i have on there now, which would bring the rear axle back and that would cause rubbing when ever i hit a big bump. And undo torche on the axle?
I really dont know much about working on cars which is why I brought it to a shop to have the leafs done. But I have seen numerous threads on this and it seemed like it was pretty straight forward and easy to do.
If anyone could give me some help on the subject I would really aprecciate it. Thanks in advance for any comments or suggestions.
