Ok, I'm getting a little frustrated now. I have removed and cleaned the motor brushes, etc. twice now. I still have no 4wheel drive. Now I found out about a reset button in the back. Well, I push it(doesn't push much) and a little light comes on. Hey, I'm pretty happy at this point. I get back in the X and push the high range button. NOTHING. I go back to the back and guess what, no light. Well, needless to say I did this a few times. Any help would be appreciated.

did you unhook the 2 wires on the black box on the back? I had to do this to a 93 explorer one time at work you unhook the 2 wires connected to the box and push the button this is a self test to see if the controller is working right the light should either blink or stay on , i forget which means what but someone else should be able to you out out to

Do you mean the black wires on the push buttons? Are there other wires I need to look for?

I dont understand the Dr Bobs self test description,If the Contrl module works OK... the led must flash or must bright?, if must bright...how long?

I had the same problem with mine. You wanna know what the problem is. Its the shift motor. Go buy a new one. I bought the whole thing connect the new brown wire and hooked the harness up and wow i got 4x4 now...yepeeee

I havn't found one locally, did you order it off the internet? How much was it.

on the side of the black box facing the rear of the truck there should be 2 wire harnesses that plug into the box you need to unplug these 2 harnesses to test it
