HELP ! ! 94 4.0 Code reader

Which code reader works on the 94 4.0 motor? I've been looking on E-Bay and the "FORD Innova 3143 and 3145 show the Explorer as exempt from their listings. Need to know which model code reader will work on the 94 , 4.0 so that I can continue my trouble shooting. See "94 Limited timming" I mispelled timing so you will have to also if you do a search.

The 94 uses the EEC-IV system, so anything made for EEC-IV would work. Some newer scanners could read both EEC-IV, and EEC-V (OBD-II). Are you looking for a basic code reader, or a scanner?

Just go to Walmart and pick one up for $20.

OH and there is a way to check it using just a paper clip. Try and search for it.

Yes, you put a jumper between the STO and STI test points, then you can connect up a test light, analog voltmeter, or count the flashes on the CHECK ENGINE light. Dali Design has a nice tutorial, and you can buy a troubleshooting guide from him, too.
