1996 Explorer Sport
Hey guys, i just bought a 1996 Explorer Sport and one of the foglights is out. the bulb is rolling around in the housing and there is water in it also. What should i do. Drain the housing and get a new bulb, and if so what size bulb is it? or should i get a new housing.

Thanks

If there is water in it. There is most likely a leak in it. My one used to leak when it'd rain and the tire would throw water around in the wheel well. I got tired of replacing bulbs so I stopped using them until a cheap lense was on ebay and i got it.

I noticed on my old one there is a 2 piece cap. There is a little tube like thing that sticks out. A white sleeve with wat looks to be like cloth goes over than and then a cap goes on the end of it that. I was missing the little cap and the cloth was letting water through. My new one is sealed in that are so I guess is no worry now.

Is there any way i can just seal it up. Maybe some sort of epoxy? Anyone else got any suggestions. thanks

I see no problems just taking some silicon to that hole. But the problem with mine was, the water released the reflective stuff so it no longer shined light. My dad worked on it and got the lense pryed off and I painted it with fake chrome spray paint. I looked ok on and off. But it didn't shine on the road. So they only choice was to get a new one. But If there is no other damage, I'd just seal up the hole

what size bulb goes in the foglight?

Take out the bulb on the other side and look at it (you should replace them in pairs anyway). Actually bring it to Autozone to compare. Or just go to the store and look up your truck year and get the bulb.

The bulb is a 899. Bit I've hear a 893 can fit in it. I just can't find a type to match the silver stars in my area :(

I just used some calk (sp) and put it all over the top. then just let it dry and paint it black. still get light...

Well thanks guys for all the reply's, when i took the foglight off the bracket, the bulb inside was completely off the socket, so im assuming thats how water came in. Anyways i got some 899 bulbs and its all fixed now, but the silver coating was coming off in the interior of the fog, might just paint it. who knows...thanks
