I've got mind boggling intermittent wiper problems:

When I turn on the front wipers on one of the delay settings, they do nothing, except cycle about once/minute, no matter what setting. Then, if I accelerate the wipers begin to operate normally. But, if I coast or maintain speed, they do nothing.

Secondly, the rear wiper doesn't move at all, although I had a warranty replacement switch put in a couple of weeks ago and it worked then.

Also, if I'm stopped, coasting, or maintaining speed and turn the REAR wiper switch on, the front wipers will begin to operate normally if they are set to one of the interval positions as described above.

This sum beotch is possessed!!!

Any clues?

Also, I'm currently bypassing my Traction Control system by disconnecting the returns from both of the sensors as described in another post in this forum. I get both 4HI and 4LO dash lights flashing about every 5 minutes as also described. As the Generic Electronic Module appears to control the wipers, is the error caused by the disconnected speed sensors causing my wiper gremlins???

My wipers like to act funny sometimes and I don't have a 4x4, so that may not be your problem. Mine kind of have a mind of thier own. No matter which setting the stalk dial is on, they work how and when they want to. Also, my windshield washer works when it feels like it too. I believe that the problem is the gorilla snot of a grease that Ford uses in the turn signal stalk. There are several threads around here that explain how to take the stalk apart and clean the contacts from all the grease. Several people around here report that the wipers working better after cleaning the contacts in the stalk. One day I'll get around to doing it.

Supposedly the wipers have some sort of speed sensor that will increase the speed of the wipers when you speed up and slow when you slow. Not sure which models have that or not but maybe yours does.
