I had to use an impact socked to get mine off. I used a regural ratchet with it. Got it at home depot. any BTW if you don't have a torque wrench, count the threds before you take the bolt off.

Any one know where i can get one online?

I bought mine from Napa. Don't know if they have it online, but they do have an online catalog www.napaonline.com

If your really in a bind, snap on trucks have it.. Used tool places have it...

It its the auto hubs you must pull the pin (key) out first. If you don't you will break the nut and to replace the nut is about $35 (DAMHIK).

If your really really really in a bind....The first time I took it off (didn't mean to have to but I had to change the rotor, unexpectantly).. I pulled the key, then used an old screw driver (e.g. chisel) and a hammer to loosen it up. I know I didn't torque it right when I put it on, but I has in a bind at the moment.

Napa or advance auto, Checker they all carry it.
I know they have to have one of those 3 in Dayton.

Hope it helps???

Okay,

Let me more specifically define my problem.

My nut has eight sides. If you look at the JC Whitney page listed they have no Explorer listed.

Which one to pick?

Thanks

What type??

Which type of nut do you have the original? if that is the case I believe it is 2 3/8" will fit it.
I have my old hubs in my x I will check and get back to you shortly....... I hope I can help.

2 3/8"

an open end would work for this or the wrench/socket from the auto parts store they have one it is called a hub socket....8 sides.

Good luck, just in mentioning I would switch to manual hubs or at least switch to the new style lock nut with the tang slots in it.

Hope you get-er' done!!

Try looking in the Yellow pages under truck spring shops, that is where I found mine. None of the autozone type places carried it. You should also note the nut only gets torgued to 35lbs to initially seat it, but then is backed off and re-torqued to 16 Inch/lbs. This equates to about 1.5 ft\lbs which is a casual turn of the socket with your BARE HAND (don't use a wrench).
