HELP.Check engine Light came on, And the gave me a CODE

I went to the Dealer I bought my truck from. Its a 2000 Explorer XLS (also bought extended bumber to bumper warranty), They ran a diagnositics (which cost 80) The code they gave was "F67ECA", They told me it was my:

*evaporation vapor management valve*

Said it would cost me 83.23, plus labour, which is 160 total!

Does anyone know what else I can do, or should I just go get it done!

$80 to read a code? Score a code reader (Actron/Scangauge and others) which will pay for itself in no time. Lots of people will tell you to hit a certain Auto Parts chain for a free code read, but that's in the US. I've never heard of free scans in Canada (I'm in Calgary).

Doesn't your warranty cover it? Most of those have a $100 deductible. Sorry, I don't have a clue what that code means.

I was in Winnipeg this past weekend for a wedding (drove my Explorer over there). Was my first time in "The Peg". Stayed down near the stadium (Polo Park). Damn, those Winnipeg skeeters are nasty.

Good luck with the troubleshoot. Try a search of the archives and you might find others who have had similar issues.

I have never seen a code like that.

I would have it read somewhere else.

Could the code be just F67E?

They told me it wasnt under warranty! So I don't really know what to do, I might as well ge tthe part ordered and get them to install it, I am going to go to another shop this weekend, and see what they say about it.

As for the skeeters in winnipeg, I swear that they are all on Steroids. They are huge!
