HELP! CV stuck in wheel bearing

hehe i know iv been told, i have no access to major heat unless i go out to my buddys shop which is down the highway but i dont wanna drive on the higway because she makes a lot of noise and vibrates like hell.
I would be ripping it apart right now but its raining so im going to have to wait till the afternoon.

You say to use a screw driver to pry the cv off?
theres no clips i need to undo or anything?
iv read the how to replace a cv several times, im hoping i dont wreck the seal on the diff.
Thanks guys for all your help if it wasent for you i would of had it at a shop already and been in debt big time.

You will not have to get the screwdriver near the seal, it really shouldn't take a whole lot of pressure.
There is an internal clip on the CV, nothing external and nothing to "undo" or unbolt.

alright, well picked up a new cv for 100 got the old one out and the knuckle, everything came out really easy.
Now its ready to be pressed out.
One thing im wondering is there supposed to be some kind of ring in the splines where the cv attaches to the diff?
when i pulled it out the other axle came with it , and one end had a little clip on it(the end way in the diff) and the other did not|?, but it looks like there is supposed to be something there?
can i get this part anywhere? does anyone know a part number? or even what im talking about?

Well boys CV is oficially out of the hub, im not sure how, but my neibour had it out within 20 minutes of leaving it on his deck.
so im ready to put it all back together but im still unsure of this c clip i keep hearing about, in my haynes it only mentions the inner stub c clip.
when i got it apart there was no clip holding the cv to the diff?
i read in a thread that there is no c clips but there are grooves|?

Jamie, he's got a '99, not a TTB. The halfshafts (both driver and passenger side) in mine have grooves to put a C-clip in, but no C-clips. Those suckers are loose and once you remove the hub assembly you can pull them right out of the differential. If the hubs are not tightened or fit close to the assembly, the halfshafts can theoretically float in and out for however much room there is to do it in.

And yes, I have that clunk too, but after installing new gears, a locker, and 35's, I don't know what to blame it on

Are we talking about the passenger side of the truck?
It would be possible to remove the extension axle (or whatever the correct name of it is) on that side of the truck with the CV, but it would be easily removed from the CV. You should be able to pry it free, then reinstall that extension axle back into the front diff assembly. Keep it straight about which end goes where, I forget if that matters or not, but seem to think that it does.

Its not a C-clip so to speak, but it is on the end of that extension axle just to add a little pressure.
I "mis-spoke" about its location earlier

alright, well the extension axle i put back in.
but i mean where the cv goes into the diff is there supposed to be a c clip?
because i dont think there was one in there, there was one on the axle extension your speaking of, i had pulled that out to along with the cv.

Like I said in my last post, the C-clip (of sorts) is only on the extension axle, not the CV. I mis-spoke when I wrote that. There is no other c-clips

Cool man, lol sorry for being so confusing, i never pulled one out before and my dad kept freaking me out saying i couldnt do it and "to take it to a professional" yada yada yada.
Anyways i got it all back together everything went well, all the ball joints seem to be good on that side to.
One thing i noticed is that With the 2 new wheel bearings it seems to coast better haha.
No more annoying noise and the high speed shake is gone.
all thats left to do is new rotors and new front tires.
Id like to thank everyone that helped me with this.

For reference, I believe the "extension axle" the correct term is half-shaft? IIRC

Something like that... cv axle's are often called half shafts too.. so.. idk... as long as we're all on the same page that's all that matters... lol
