Ok well I had to pull a dukes of hazard today to get out of my damn truck!..

The driver's side door just stoped working....the inside latch does nothing....the outside latch does nothing but flop freely....the lock is stuck in the down position....I unlocked it using power locks....nothing.....I took a spare key and cranked it hard in the key hole and nothing!....I took a pair of plyers and pulled up on the knob and nothing!!!!

is it possible to pull the door pannel off the door while its closed???

This blows....I'm supposed to show houses tomorrow!!

any idea's are greatly appricated.....I kinda hope this has happened to someone else....but then again I don't because this is a true PITA...

I'm gona go start trying to take the door pannel off and maybe take the seat out....I'll check back here in about an hour....if you have ANY idea's let me know

Thanks

Sorry, I dont know what to tell ya... I just wanted to say hi because im here in SLC :D

hmm well if all of those didnt work the its like the part that connects directly to the latch....if u can just get the inside pannel off u should..on other cars...see the back part of the latch not the latch itself but atleased a cable or bar end if it broke if not there should be a hole where the mechanism was going to the latch just get in there and spin the latch it doesnt move up ot down just rotates

i dont think u should have to take the seat out just get the upper portion of the inside trim thingy off and u should see the whole door/latch/lock/pull mechanism

Dukes Of Hazzard !!!!!!!!!!!!!
You are showing your age there !!!!

Try this, carefully roll the top of the door pannel off the top of the door. Be careful it will take a good bit of finesse but it is possible.

You can then get an eyeball down in there with a flash light and see what is what.

I got it....I ended up pulling out the drivers side seat (piece of cake actualy) and pulled it out throu the back....

then I took a screw driver and pryed the door pannel off....I broke a few of thoes plastic clips but oh well....i've got a box of 50 of them in the garage....

it turns out there are 2 little springs hooked up to the door handle...they are flopping around and arn't hooked up to anything.....if i simply put a little tention on th erod that connects to the door handle it works fine....

also there was a electrical clip hooked up to the door mechanism that was broke off....any idea's?

It tells the truck when the door is shut.
ie. turns on your interior light

did you ever get this fixed? im having the same problem. i have my inside door panel off and i know exactly where i have to stick my hand to get my door to unlock... its just a PITA and dont know how im gonna fix it yet....

I ended up needing a new door handle and one of the little rods was bent from me beating the hell out of it trying to open the door!...

I ended up driving for 2 days without the door panel reaching in and manual opening the door......it was a pain....but only 70$ to fix including parts/labor..

however the shop that installed it didn't install that little interior light wire back on.....its anoying as hell!!! also I think the alarm is tied into that rendering it useless for that door..

good luck! at least its cheap to fix
