Please help, I have a 98 4.0 ohv 4x4 , Just recently the voltage gage pegs high, the battery light and abs light comes on the everything will return to normal except the abs light stays on. This only seems to happen after the truck sits overnight. Once the engine gets hot all is fine. I had replaced the alternator last summer with a remanufactured one. It seems like the voltage regulator is going bad to me. Does this make any sense ? thanks in advance.

yes, it could be a voltage regulator. I don't know of these are built into the alternators, or external. I'm sure they're built-in in this year.

I don't believe your abs light is connected to your voltage issue. Your voltage issue maybe related to a poor battery connection.... clean and tighten.

I replaced the alternator yesterday, So far so good.
