Sorry to bother everyone, but I'm new to the board and I'm having some trouble with my 2000 Explorer. It was running fine the other night right before I washed it. I got done washing it and moved it down to the end of the driveway so that I could rearrange the cars. Well, a little later, I went to start it and it turned over a few times before it finally started, but it ran fine. Well, the next morning I got in it to go to town and now it won't start. It just turns over. But, if I give it some gas, it will start right up, but will not idle. I can get it running and feed it some gas and it revs fine, but when the engine starts to slow back to an idle, it immediately dies. I tried to plug in my Predator programmer to detect any trouble codes and it doesn't show that there are any. I thought that it could be the throttle position sensor or something, but right now, I'm completely lost and a little pissed. I had to leave town so the Cobra is at the airport (hopefully I don't get any door dings). Anyway, if you have any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Jason

Its a pretty standard answer on exploders. If you can start the engine by giving it some gas, it runs / revs fine, but just won't idle, replace the idle air control valve. Altho there are actually some codes the iac is supposed to set when there are problems, they never do.

Not that hard, search this website for instructions if you need em. About 50 bucks at the part store.

Have fun!

You can also try cleaning the IAC before replacing it. Pretty simple procedure, and may save you some $$.

Thanks for the help!! I'll probably just replace it to save the headaches down the road...
