Hey ya'll
i need some quick help about PLEXIGLASS
i'm having my friend build a custom box for me...and i want to include just a plexiglass amp rack covering on part of it and the other half will be the subwoofer box sealed off from the rest.

I went to lowes to check out plexiglass prices and thickness and what not, so anyways i find that the only thickness they can custom cut for me is 1/8 of an inch.....
i wanted a bit thicker but i gotta take what i can get.

Can i drill through the 1/8 plexiglass so i can make my screw mounting holes????.... someone said to use a "tile/glass drill bit" of which i already have one....

i need to know if i can so i know it'll be cool to include it for the box, or if i need to forget about it and not include it.

thanks for your help

You can use any drill bit you want. Just go slow so you don't melt it.

arite very cool
thanks for the fast response !!!!

spray it with wd-40 (or equal) as drilling to keep it cool. probably better to use an old, worn out bit, instead of a new one which will grab too much and crack the plexiglass

well my dad just told me that he has a "tile flooring drill bit." he used it to make holes in floor tiles i think he said....
i might use that just because floor tile is pretty fragile to begin with and i'll spray wd-40 on is as i go...

sound like a plan ya'll?

I's use a wood bit personally. A tile cutting bit (if it's not a masonary bit) has only two cutting faces which might increase the chances of chacking the plastic. Just use a wood bit and go slow.
