I've got a 92 ford explorer 2wd. I'm trying to track down a short in the wiring and I can't find the Brake diode/resistor and the gear select switch. If someone could help I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

A.J.

The brake diode and resister is probably in the harness or the circut board in the guage cluster. The 'gear select' switch is the reverse and neutral switch in the tranmission. I could not find anything called gear selector. I assume you have an automatic.

I found them. I finally got a chance to go to a buddy's shop and use mitchell. the diode/resistor was in the main wiring harness on the drivers side fenderwell and the gear select switch is the neutral safety switch just what ford calls it i guess. thanks

Not a problem, if you get any info on how the brake resistor/diode circut works, post it. I was looking at the circut diagrams and i'm not even sure why it has to be there.

I know it has to do with the indicator light, but i don't see why its needed for the circuts to work.
