yes, there are 2 different sizes, ive relaly been slacking on changing mine because i dont want to have to take them off, find a ride to bring them in, get the new ones, go back, then install...

i have a book that tells me the part numbers but they are labled "A" 45-1630 and "B"
50-6897 . "A" is for models with 3.27, 3.55,or 3.73 axle ratio and the "B" is for models with 3.45 or 4.10 axle ratio. where can i find out what my axle ratio is? its not a big deal getting a ride but i would perfer to have all the parts on hand when i start to tear the truck apart. with my luck i will have to order the parts and that will not be good as i need the truck

there is actually 3 different sizes. you can do them with a c press an with canadian weather im sure you will it also. some say you can do the center joint with it in diff in there i couldnt do that so i had to remove the front diff but that gave me a chance to clean it out an fresh oil.

I haven't ever got absolute proof on the two sizes, but I believe (by comparing the sizes listed to the ones on my BII's D28) that the two sizes referred to is equivalent to asking if you have a D35 or a D28. Of course, Explorers always had the D35, but many parts stores lump Explorers with BII's and other RBV's, so they ask. I would almost be willing to bet that you want the larger size they are offering.

When I did my outer u-joints, I just followed the instructions in Hayne's/Chilton's. It was adequate for that much of the job.

Some have reported changing the inner passenger u-joint in place, but other's say it is just easier to drop the pumpkin and remove the C-clip to remove the stub shaft.

mine took Precision Universal Joint # 371 call a jobber prob be best that what i do. i dont buy from crappy tire

ok thanks for all the input
found other problems with the truck and now i have to eather replace the truck or do some rear leaf spring work. the spring hanger has got a rust hole in it the size of a gulf ball and the other side is getting there. so do i fix that or replace the truck?

Are you talking about the Shackle? If so, just replace it, I paid $19.00 for one from the Ford dealer, there is threads on here on how to replace them. Or else get Warrior shackles and give the truck a little lift.

no its the front of the leaf spring. its rivited to the frame . ill try to get a pic of it
thanks

Ok got some pics of what im talkig about
