I have a 1996 Explorer Sport 4.0L V6 2WD. It has 100K on the motor and 9K on the transmission. My problem is, I drive like a grandma and I am getting 9 miles per gallon! AH! with gas prices at their peak, this is not keeping my wallet full! Is there anything I can do? I just bought a K&N FIPK GEN1 kit for my X, the kit that replaces the stock air box, and i have yet to see an improvment in gas milage. I am also running 31" X 10.50" BFG AT on Rock Crawlers, a steel wheel, at stock ride height. I have also been keeping a constant strong air pressure to try and improve the gas milage. HELP!

Thanks Jeff!

9mpg, ouch. Have you tried bringing it to the dealership? If your tire pressure is good, and you don't do any heavy driving, it shouldn't be that bad. I'm not a pro in any means, but it could be a sensor (maf, O2?), or you might even need a new fuel filter.
