Today I decided to change my spark plugs because my 1998 Mercury Mountaineer was running rough on idle and mis firing. I changed them and when I started the truck it sounded beautiful. But for some reason my gas pedal is stuck. I can't move it. The engine doesn't rev when i put my foot on the gas. I can't drive my truck because the gas pedal won;t move and it feels very hard. PLEASE HELP if anyone knows anything about this. Thanks in advance.

Is the pedal stuck down the floor?
OR
Are you not able to depress the pedal?

was the throttle cable disconnected, or damaged in any way?

Did you have any issues or problems while replacing the spark plugs?
Did you replace the wires?
Did you disconnect, or disturb, the wires to any sensors?
Did you disconnect, or disturb, any vacuum lines?

When you say that your gas pedal is stuck and it won't move,
It sounds like there might be a tennis ball tucked under the gas pedal.

One thing to do is look under the dash with a flashlight and make sure that the gas pedal bracket is still in place. The welds holding the bracket break; know problem - there was apparently a TSD on it. Mine broke about a year ago and I had to take the pedal out of the bracket, drill our some holes, and replace with a couple of nuts and bolts.

Mine got stuck at one point from the truck just sitting too long. Solved the problem by tapping the pedal rapidly and it was fine. More than likely it was just some gunk build up. Sounds more like there is a issue with a broken bracket.
