hello there i have a 92 explorer blew a head gasket the other day so i replaced that had the heads checked for cracks none also had them surfaced heres my problem went to startd after i put it back together would not start ppulled number one wire off to check for spark the minute i grounded it it started right up so i had the wife shut it off put the plug wire back on restarted it ran for about 5 minutes then died check for spark again nothing let it it for a little while started right back up so i thought i had a bad crank sensor came home today and it started right up like nothing was wrong (still running with old crank sensor) took it for test drive around the block could not get it out of 1st tried to accelerate it wouldnt let me pulled back in drive way and it died check no spark put new crank sensor in still no spark checked fuses under hood all were good got it to spark a couple of times then it stop sparking i am at a loss fuel pump works could somebody please help going to check connections again could a coil cause this ? checked secondary got 13.5 ohms so figured coil is ok. need to get it running have no other transportation except motorcyle hard to food shop with a bike thanks in advance.:(:confused:

Did you purge the fuel lines after you did the head gaskets....that may cause the dying. Check your vacuum connections as well since the modulator on the trans has a vacuum line that might cause your shifting problem......and as for the no spark i draw a blank except for bad connection at the coil.
 






did you hook you the vacuum line for the tranny on the intake when you put it back on? as most times it gets missed. also check over the elecrtical plugs to make sure nothing is lose cracked or broken.
 






Make sure you don't have any vacuum leaks at the vacuum tree on the drivers side by the firewall.

You didn't damage or neglect to connect up the engine ground strap, did you? All other electrical connectors connected tight? Your description sounds to me like there's a loose connection somewhere.
