help headlight problem

Had a thought: Are we sure this isnt a case of a bad multi function switch? You can flash the highbeams by pulling the switch back even when the vehicle is turned off. If the contacts somehow were touching or jumped an arc then the brights would be on...

have to admit to being totally dumb. found module under left forward wheel well unplugged it and most everything works.removed it and called ford with p/n and it is a daylight running light module thanks budwich you were right all along. Can't believe had vehicle so long and did not know about these. I do still have the clicking sound now from module of some sort mounted to the top of heater/ac plenum. unplugged it also and trying to figure out if anything doesn't work. thanks again for the help at least now it's driveable without having to remove battery cable.
Thanks again to all who contributed enjoyed the assistance and working thru this problem.

Yup, Thats exactly the problem I had (Twice). You might want to consider leaving it unplugged, and not replacing it.

Budwich, I hope I don't post and end up being the subject of your sarcasm sometime. :-)
I have to say your responses kept me coming back for a look.

Ya I get that way some times... sorry... but I try to make it a "fun sarcasm". In this case, it was somewhat "obvious" from the "journey" which was "pretty good testing". Someone told me a pretty wise thing a while ago... "I can tell you everything you need to know to solve your problem but ultimately you have to seek the wisdom (experience) yourself." Its good that the original poster was able to get to the bottom of things without spending a lot of money... and he learned something new about the truck... :-)

thanks to all again. it did help and seem to be working ok now.I did learn a couple of things about the truck.
