explorer wiring has three lights in the corners while the mountaineer only has 1.

what do i do so that i can just have the one hooked up with a bulb and avoid having the blinkers go hyper speed?

my physics class tells me i need to put a resistor in each of the wires i'm not using. what should its resistance be? is there any way around this? i don't want to get a new harness and really don't need one because i'm going to a complete stand alone hid for the headlights in a few weeks.

someone must know an easy way around this problem? what if i just splice power to ground and complete the circuits with no resistor? or would tha tmake it blink too slow?

Get an electronic flasher from the parts store. It replaces your stock flasher. Problem solved. I put one in to prevent the opposite when I pull a trailer and have many more lights.

i've never noticed a problem pulling my trailer (with about 10 lights on it)

so i'm guessing the flasher controls all three and you want me to get one that controls just one? or are they not that specific?

Hmmm... is your flasher stock? On my truck with the stock flasher it went crazy fast with the trailer hooked up. I asked about it here and that's how I found out about the electronic flasher. Maybe the way your trailer is wired to your truck is different than mine and that's why you don't have a problem. Also, do you have an alarm on you truck? I know on my Mustang my alarm had it's own flasher and it did all the work. So your alarm may have an electronic flasher and may be doing the work. That said. I don't know how to slow your flashing down with fewer bulbs. But boy did I bring up a lot of questions or what?;)

wow- yeah you did bring up a lot of questions.

my wiring is stock

perhaps yours had problems and mine worked with the trailer because i have the towing package and you do not...

i do have an alarm, but its just tapped into the stock flasher so it activates it when it wants to but the stock still takes over.

any idea how much a new flasher is going to cost me? if its too much i'll start modifying and try to figure something out. if its cheap i'll just go get a new one.

I think the flasher is between $5-10.

why not just hook up the bulb, but leave it tucked in behind the grille or header panel. spraypaint it balck so no light shines through? kind of a ghetto approach but cheapest, and easiest way i think.

i think there was a guy on here a week or so ago trying to figure out how to make his lights flash faster  ...you 2 should talk :D

I think I have heard someone talking about an adjustable flasher on here before. Maybe that would help.
