My two choices are: 17x9 Cobra R Wheels...I love the look but it is a popular choice, or American Racing Teron wheels.

Either way I'm going to go with chrome. I can get the cobra's for $272 ea. and I can get the teron's for $300 ea.

Anybody have an opinion? Thanks =)

Opinions are like some body part - everyone has one and they all stink...

BUT, in \my opinion, I would go with Cobra wheels; I love the look.

Good luck either way.

get the theron...make your truck satand out

Cobra R's. They look way sweeter. IMO.

no it was a spelling error

no it was a spelling error i didnt notice it till after it was posted and i didnt think anyone else would notice that either, i guess some one did though

i know jim. i am terrible at typing. i just thought it sounded funny.

obviously, i'm a cobra-r fan. got em on my own truck. i too thought about the fact that they're common on this board, but out in the real world, you're still going to stand out.

Anyone have a good picture of these Cobra wheels that everyone talks about? About how much do they cost?
Im lookin to buy some new rims in the next couple days and need some ideas.
Thanks,
Grant

here's tirerack.com's page with their svt wheels:

Go with the Cobra R's, they look really good on an X. If you get something different, get a deep dish rim. Flush rims on an X look goofy IMHO. Those Therons would be considered flush rims.

I have seen rims like this one on an X and they look sweet as hell. This would is a deep dish type rim.

can you put on the cobra 17 or 18 by themselves or do they require wheel spacers, and if so , what are they?

cobra prices?

Just looked at those cobras on at TIRERACK. They look really nice but I couldnt find where to get the prices? Anyone know?

Go with the AR wheels. I think flush rims look fine, depending on the type. Take a look at my page for the rims that I have and see what you think.

Thanks for the input...still undecided though.

2001expsport...I really like those "deep dish" rims that were in the link but I haven't been able to find any like that at a price that I'm willing to pay. I'd like to keep it under $300/wheel if I could. Any idea how much those ones cost? Thanks for the help!

The site doesn't post the price, but here is the info:

fantasymon -

the tirerack site is kinda screwey. if you want to see the prices, you have to search by what fits your vehicle. they're a pretty conservative company, so after ford announced the latest firestone recall, they pulled all their explorer rims from their site and only sold tires off the ford list if you wanted tires for the x.

doesn't matter anyway, tirerack will tell you that the cobra-rs won't fit the explorer. if you want to see their prices, just search by vehicle and use a mustang.

if you're looking for good prices on the cobra-r, check out

they have awesome prices, though be sure to ask about shipping costs.

i got my rims from tirerack because of the convenience of having the wheels and tires arrived mounted and balanced, and after shipping, the cost wasn't all that different than gefracing.

15 to 17?

I have stock 15" wheels on now. Is goin from 15 stocks to 17 cobra r a bad idea? Doesn't seem like it would be too smart especially since i am goin to put much bigger tires on with a soon to come 1.75" lift.
Thanks, Grant

i went from 15" to 17", from 235/75 to 275/55. i didn't have any major problems with it. for you though, not sure how those cobra-rs would look with the lift. do you do much off roading? because from what i've read, the cobra-r is a street rim, not ideal for off roading. you might want to go with something deep-dish if you're going with big tires, IMHO the cobra-s just look best with lower profile rubber.

doktorstoj: can you put on the cobra 17 or 18 by themselves or do they require wheel spacers, and if so , what are they?

depends on your tire size. i think you'd be okay with 265, any bigger and you'll probably need spacers, whether you have 4x4 or 4x2. i don't know about the 18" rim, but with my 17" rim, i have 275s and i needed a 3/16" spacer in front. even with that, it rubs just a tad a full turn. tbomb has his cobra-rs and 285s on ebay right now if you're looking to buy...
