I need some opinions, I am currently looking at Pioneer TS-A6855, and TS-A6865 speakers for my sploder. I have a kenwood HU 45X4, and I am trying to find some affordable decent speakers. Anyone have any experience with these pioneers? should i go three way all around? or just in the front? Please advise, Thanks.

Do the higher end ones in the front, and the lesser in the back. You won't notice much of a difference with the rears. I don't really think, though that there's a huge price difference between those sets anyway, but the general consensus is that unless you care what your passengers really think (and most of the time they don't care), just go with whatever in the back. Almost anything is better over the stocks, especially in the older models.

the head unit only puts out like 20-22 watts, the 45 is peak. so you dont need high watt speakers unless you plan to get an amp for them eventually.

Thanks JTang and Lamah. I know that its not continously 45, i believe it is 22. Will those Pioneers still sound good? or will they be too underpowered? Thanks

I just installed those same speakers yesterday. I put the 3-ways(6865's) up front and the 2-ways in the rear. I paid $100 for 3ways and $70 for 2ways, reasonably priced. The 3ways sound great, you really can hear a depth and location to certain background sounds. I believe both had a 50W RMS, 180W max for 3way and 150W for 2way. The sound is good with my Blapunkt(anyone else have this brand? It's German, and I feel it is way ahead of the Kenwoods and Pioneers, just seems that people are hesitant to try a new brand) with 45Wx4 powering. It's obvious to me that the rears are underpowerd, but they still sound good. I'll be adding and amp for the rears in the next week or two, I can give ya an update then if you want!

Im kinda new to the audio stuff, how are the rear two ways underpowered and the front three ways sound good? Thanks

Ya know, I'm really not sure. I'm not a car stereo buff, far from it. Sitting in front of the rear speakers gives them a different sound then sitting behind them. Maybe if I coudl sit in front of the front speakers they would sound underpowered, but as it is, I think they sound fine.

I do know that if you have the $$ it will be worth it to power the rear with an amp, or all four if you can! Even at the same wattage you will get a much cleaner sound and more precise hits.

yaw: blaupunkt isnt new. its been around for a while. the only good products they make are the head units, and even those arent THAT good.

also, as far as the rear speakers being underpowered, they probably are fine. They wont add as much to the music since your a lot closer to the fronts.

hope that helped,
Jeff aka Lamah
