Help- I think I ruined my gas line!

1994 Explorer- I was trying to replace the fuel filter (and have done 5 or 6 on other vehicles including a 2005 escape) and think I damaged the spring clips in the fuel lines. Even using the special tool, one was difficult to remove and I can't get the other one off.

Has this happened to anyone else? Do I have to replace the fuel line? If so, is there a better fuel filter set up out there that is compatible? Maybe like the clips used on newer Ford models?

Any help would be appreciated!

NAPA has repair pieces for fuel lines...not to worry...

It takes some serious effort to hurt the lines. More than likely you just damaged the spring lock clips, which are replaceable. Any good parts store should have them. There are 2 different sizes that Ford used over the years, the ones on your fuel filter should be the larger size.
