Hey all,

I was hoping someone could point me in the direction of some detailed instructions on how I can change out my factory deck. I have a 2006 explorer and want to put my old pioneer deck in, I tried to do this awhile ago myself but ran into problems including something I did turned the traction control light on with the result being I could not turn it off. If anyone knows where on the internet I might be able to find some instructions or if you care to post some hints it would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Should be a plug n' play change over as long as you are using the right wiring harness and installation bracket.

If you're not using the correct harness or bracket then all I can say is good luck to you sir, I've fought that battle more times than I care to count.

Now I just pay the 40-50 bucks and have someone else do it. That way when something screws up on the install I can scream at them.....

Check the crunchfield website and see that you have all the correct harnesses

Its an easy truck to do a radio on. You may want check to see if you got everything plugged back in correctly, or if there is a pinched wire. If you cant see anything and still have a warranty put it back to stock and play "stupid" and bring it in under warranty.

I've installed (2) after-market radios in my ex, first a 1-dinn (which was a piece of garbage and stopped working), and most recently a 2-dinn Clarion. As others have said, it's a piece of cake if you have the wiring harness. I have the directions from Crutchfield and I can send them to you if you need them; I'll need a day or two to scan them. Since this is my second purchase from Crutchfield, I also have the universal installation brackets for the '06 ex with instructions, a wiring harness with diagram, and the antenna adapter you'll need. If you need all three, make an offer...

Most likely, there is really only like 3 or 4 aftermarket dash kit companies around.
