Started last night. The check engine light comes on. It goes off then comes back on again every few miles. Was fine before last night. I didn't change, or do anything to the truck. 94 XLT. Any ideas? I checked all wiring, connectors, & fuses. Truck still seems to drive ok. No idle, bogging or otherwise bad driving.

I have a OBD II scanner but it's useless on the X. Anyway to check the code without a scanner?

And where is the port located on a 94 X to plug a scanner into?

Thanks

The one (and maybe only thing) I really like about OBD-1/EEC-IV: They made allowances for the DIY'er to easily and inexpensively pull the trouble codes. One easy read on how to do the KOEO test is at www.fordfuelinjection.com under "getting codes" There's also a good article in "downloads" that also included instructions for the KOER test.
Another good site, just not as readable but it has all of the pertinent self-test information is www.dalidesign.com/hbook/eectest.html

Tried that cheap method. I just couldn't figure it out. Bought a $30 code scanner. Had a code for the EGR valve. The 2 little hoses going to it had holes in them. I replaced the hoses & all is good now.
