Help me decide on which Explorer Limited to buy

I would prefer the lower mileage one if it wasn't for the fact that the previous owner removed all the emblems and the engine compartment is filthy with mud residue.

In '03 they removed all the side badges as a cost savings.. . .dealers had them put them back in '04. De-Badged - it may have come that way if the badge is still on the hatch. Quick way to tell if its an '03 look for the missing side badges.

$1k less doesn't seem like a big break for a 50k difference in miles might matter. . .hard to say. How does it sound? How does it shift?

My engine isn't clean either, note that these engine compartments are not sealed very well i've noticed a lot of dirt build up on ours.

I would say which one you like more, 3rd row, DVD (check that it works). . .sound systems? Are they both V8's? If the 05 is a v6 i'd go with the V8 any day.

My engine compartment is filthy and my car runs like brand new its just a little dusty some of it may also be pollen depending on the area its from. Highway miles+soccer mom car= win. More than likely she took it to the dealer for all the maintence whenever the sticker on the windshield told her too. Word of advice though, sometimes its better to buy a car with a dirty engine so you can see it for what it really is. When I bought my explorer they had the engine cleaned and for good reason, there was an oil leak that I would have never know about before getting an oil change. Car drove like new and I couldnt even tell there was one until I went for the oil change.

btw i wouldnt worry about the dirt like everyones been tellin you personally i think it looks a little better with some mud on it... hahaha
