New member with question on which explorer

Hello, New member here. Haven't had a Ford since the 84 Ranger I got at 16 but I am ready to get another.

This may be a question for a different forum but the 2 I am looking at are from different generations.

05 v6 with 5 speed auto and 40k

vs

07 v8 with 6 speed auto and 75k. It's $2k more with almost twice the mileage... but it the v8. Seems like a big difference in HP with only a small difference in MPG. I have driven my mother's 06 with the 4.0 and it's not terrible on get up and go.


So thoughts?

Way more power
Better trans
Better suspension
Stiffer frame

This is coming from someone with a 04 4.0l and I love it but really... V8...buy it it is a better truck.

Thanks for the feedback. That was the way I was leaning but the Mrs. is leaning to cheaper and lower miles.

If it matters for anyone else's opinion, this will largely be in town driving but it will probably do some light off-roading. More getting to camping or fishing spots than trails or mudbogs. No lift but maybe switch the tires out for some General Grabber ATs.
