Well, I guess my memory's not quite as good as it used to be.... I pulled the motor and tranny a few months ago, preparing to dive into a 5.0 swap. Before really getting involved in the swap, situations changed and I've decided to put it off for awhile, so I reinstalled the motor and tranny yesterday. While reconnecting all the electrical stuff, I've come across four items that I just can't seem to figure out where they belong. I haven't tried starting the truck yet, since I still need to relocate my battery and finalize a few other issues, but I'd like to make sure everything is connected properly the first time. Any help is greatly appreciated!

#1 - This plug splits off the loom just before the connector for the A/C evaporator that can be seen. The wires are a black, and a black/yellow stripe.

#2 - This plug is down below the clutch master cylinder, has a black and a green w/yellow stripe wire in it.

#3 - This one's below the steering shaft, and has a red, and a gray w/ yellow stripe wire.

#4 - This sensor is plugged into the side of the block below the passenger side manifold. I can't find a plug for it, but I believe this motor was swapped from another vehicle before I bought it, so maybe it was never used in my application?

Sorry I dont have a Sixer. But I would suggest finding someone with the same year/motor and do a side by side comparison.

If its not the same motor I would suspect that there are some plugs that go to "Options" that your truck came with or did not come with.

I don't have access to another truck to do a comparison on. Surely someone can go take a look under their hood and see if they can locate any of these?

i feel like i've seen #1 and #3 under my hood. do you have the 4.0L ohv? i'll try to take a look under the hood after work and see if anything looks the same.

Yeah, it is the OHV motor. I'm not sure how similar the wiring will be on our trucks, but anything will help!

Man, its really disappointing to think that no one can go take a quick peek under their hood to help a fellow member out... I did manage to identify plug #2 by looking at my dad's Ranger (3.0 unfortunately), its the plug for the light on the hood. I haven't got around to putting the hood back on, and totally forgot about the light. :)

Your number 4 sensor that you are referring to is a block heater .
You don't really need that in Florida .
Up here in Canada its a must !

Great! That's 2 down, 2 to go! I was pretty sure I never unplugged anything from that spot, but it was several months ago, and it doesn't hurt to know what stuff is on your engine anyway.

#2 is is for the o2 sensor

Wrong... plug #2 is for the hood light, as stated above. Also, the O2 plugs are white.

i do not think explorers have hood lights. at least mine does not

Mine does...... I put the hood back on tonight and plugged it back in.
