HELP,MERCURY MARQUIS trans QUESTION

Sorry for asking this here and It not too terrible violation.BUT..I need some advise badly!
I do have a 97 Explorer also and thats whay I'm a member althought new here.( and it has another problem) but I figured there were some great FORD mechanics here and thats why I ask.
the question: I have a 2001 merc grand marquis,120,000,Several months ago olny when a load was put on it(going up hills) The trans would buck like it was trying to go into 4th or overdrive,then it would be fine,no other problem.
A few weeks ago it started doing it more and by the next day it was even worse,doing it on flat roads also,if you keep backing out of the throttle it stops but as soon as you get back into the gas it's bucking.
No codes have been set and no engine light,fluid smells and looks fine.
I believe its the converter clutch so the converter would need replaced,BUT I have to be sure,cause with living on a fixed income I have to get it right the first time.

You have a bad ignition coil causing the bucking. If the ck engine light isn't on you have to access whats called Mode 6 Data. It will show you what cylinders have history misfire. You need a IDS or special tester for that info. If the misfire isn't repetitive enough the engine light won't come on. I see you are pretty close to me, I work in Pottstown at John Kennedy Ford if you need help.

hhmm, That's Interesting cause when we first bought this car it had a problem that was similar and we did replace a coil pack,but that time the light did come on and when scanning it we found #6 was bad.
It would be great if that's what it is this time as well,

yeah I bought a couple cars from there,There was a salesman(Bob gilesby).. there that was a friend of a friend of mine.
Man I need all the help I can get!
my 97 explorer is making me nervous with what sounds like a bearing noise from the frt left wheel,so we just replaced the frt hub hopeing that was it...nope
Have to have one car that's 100%

Yep I remember Bob Gillespie, when he worked there we used to get some cool cars come in because he ordered stuff people really wanted to put on the lot. That was a long time ago probably 10 years since he worked here lol.

this Merc when we parked it was doing that bucking or missing like every couple seconds if I stayed on the gas,shouldn't that have put the light on?
