Manual Trans Question

Ok here's the question. I recently acquired an 84 ranger 4x4 w/ a 2.8 and 4 speed manual. Can I swap the trans into my 84 4x4 2.3 ranger? Already swapped out the rear end, but the gears are different. Is true for the trans as well?

I am not sure, but, if you go the therangerstation.com they have a technicial section that includes a manual transmission section. It should tell you what you want to know.
