- 1992 Ford Explorer
OK here's the story. Last July I tool my 2002 ford explorer to sears to get new tires and struts all the way around. Also they said it needed a alignment. we got all the work done andthought all was fine. I thought the ride would be a bit better than it was but I thought as long as it was all done it's fine. But it started really bothering me that the ride was just not that good. Also I noticed it was pulling tho the right. I took it back to sears and they told me it needed an alignment. I was kinda upset since it had been done not to long ago. I asked them if they could look over the suspension to see if something looked out of the ordinary because the ride was still rough and loud over every little thing on the road. They said it all looked fine. Still in discussing belief I jacked the Explorer to see if I could find anything. Sure enough the sway bar end links were in very bad shape one had barley any bushing left and we're all worn very bad. I fixed them no problem but also noticed that the struts didn't look like new. And one of the coil springs had a Crack in it. I was told I was purchasing a monroe sensatrac strut. Pn71124 on monroe website that particular part is not for a 02 explorer, and cokes as a whole unit with coil spring included. The back is the same with part number according to paperwork 71125. On the shock inside the spring I do not see the name monroe anywhere. To me it looks like they just replaced the shock and charged me for the whole strut replacement of 168 a piece for the front and 158 a piece for the back.
I have no idea what is really on the vehicle now and if all they did was replace the shock inside the spring that is fine but I feel I should have only been charged for that. Since the part number on my recipt does say I was charged for a whole strut replacement I feel the spring should not have a Crack in it like the picture. I don't know what to do any help would be greatly appreciated.
