hey guys (and gals)

I need some help, I was installing my new head unit and I came across a problem. I am using the wiring harness that you can get at autozone or walmart and I am getting constant 12v power to the cd player but my accessory wire is not putting out any power....any ideas why? I have checked the fuses and they are good.... :(

Is there another wire that I can tap into that has a positive 12 volt source only when the ignition is on? Please help me!

Chris

pick a fuse.

Chris,
I had THE SAME EXACT problem in my truck.
Check you harnesses, most likely the harness on the truck side has a loose pin where the wire comes into the harness. This happened to me, when I plugged the harnesses together, it pushed the pin out of the factory harness. I just cut the wires free from the harness and butt-spliced them without harness and BINGO--GOT POWER NOW!!!

Hope this helps!!!

Thanks guys,

Tried both things still no power...aghh, does any one know if the acc wire is fused or has a relay located elsewhere in the truck? Thanks for the help guys

onelasttry, what do you mean by pick a fuse?

Thanks again!

Chris

There are plenty of fuses at the fuse panel that are switched. Pick one and tap off it. Also, how did you check your fuses? Did you just look at them, or did you actually pull it out and check continuity? Also, are your interior lights on? Sometimes the interior light switch can be blown and the radio won't come on. you have to be meticulous when checking electrical problems. Take your time to meter everything so you don't pass over the problem and have to discover it later. If your factory radio worked, there had to be a switched source there, so just check to see what has happened since pulling (or during removal) the radio.
