I have a 92 X 4x4 with puch button 4x4, since I've owned it I have replaced the shift motor on the tranfercase, switched to manual hubs, checked all my fuses and replaced the module thing in the rear compartment. yet the 4x4 light will not light up it is still totally non responsive. If anyone can help me with this problem I would really appreciate it.
Thank You :)

maybe the 4x4 bulb is dead. i mean you need to see whether or not the front wheels are engaging when u switch it... just cauz the bulb isnt lighitng up doesnt have to mean that it hasnt shifted to 4lo or 4hi.. do you hear a small click (the shift motor engaging) when you put it in 4lo?

Thanks for the reply, the 4x4 is not engaging at all there is no click at all, I'm stumped.

did u check the switch? maybe its the switch.. since the bulb isnt lighitng up, that means theres no voltage coming out of the switch and/or no voltage is being supplied TO the switch.

try what IZwack said, check to see if the switch is disconnected, when you have your headlights on does the low range and 4x4 buttons light up Green or is there no lights on?

I don't think it is the switch it self because when I turn my lights on the buttons do light up green.

I have an incling it's the switch or a relay somewhere.

I'm having the exact same problem. My switch works, my ecu works, my hubs lock, I haven't checked my motor yet, but I have a feeling that it's gonna work to. Any help to this would be great for him and I.

I finally fixxed the problem, the used shift motor I got was defective so I swaped it for rebuilt one right out of the box and it works great now. AC Delco rebuilds the shift motors now and they sell them for around $150, if anyone has a problem with their old one I would highly recommend buying an AC Delco rebuilt, plus they have a pretty good warranty on the part. Totally worth it since the old ones are junk.
