I have a '92 ford explorer with push button 4x4. It is completely non responsive. I have replaced the shift motor on the back of the tranfer case put manual hubs on, replaced the 4x4 electronic modulator in the rear compartment, checked all the fuses. Still when I push the 4x4 button no light no 4x4 what could it be? If anyone can help me trouble shot this please reply.
Thank You :)

Switch could have gone bad or there could be a bad wire somewhere. I'd try swapping out the switch, if that doesn't fix it good luck chasing down all the wires. You and the multimeter will be spending quality time together. :)

Was the New shift motor actually new or a rebuilt or junk yard unit? When you press 4x4 high do you hear any relays clicking form the 4x4 controler in the rear trunk area?

No clicking and the shift motor is factory new

I thought it might be the module in the rear compartment so I replaced it and still nothing

Could it be a bad ground wire or something?
