HELP!!! no start!! code 355?

i have a 94 explorer that was a pain to start today the starter would go but the engine wouldnt turn and on the third try it started. and while i was driving i noticed that under acceleration the engine would stutter or skip so i drove it like a grandma went to schucks told me it was a 335 code and he had no idea what that was so when i made it back home and turned her off i tried to start he right back up and no problem tried that 3 times and on the third time i just let her run and after 1min the engine started to shutter and bog and then it died and i have not been able to start her again. after looking on here i replaced the egr sensor and that didnt change anything, i replaced the egr valve about 3 weeks ago and the air sensor about 2 months ago. and i have taken my negative cable off for 10 mins and still nothing, please help i need my rig running
thanks
ryan

My code list suggests that a 335 can only be a KOEO code. Can I assume this is true? If so, were there any codes in continuous memory (CM)? Did changing the DPFE clear up the 335? I would suggest you work on learning how to pull codes yourself. See my notes on pulling EEC-IV codes in the EEC-IV forum.

I'm not sure I would expect an EGR problem to make it that hard to start, but I would never say it's completely outside the realm of possibility. While you're checking things, check fuel delivery (check for excess gas in the vacuum line to the FPr and check fuel pressure and see if the fuel injectors are firing) when it won't start. Also check to see if the spark plugs are firing.

I have the 3-3-5 code for you, "Pressure Feedback EGR (PFE) sensor or EGR Pressure Transducer (EPT) - signal voltage higher or lower than expected." Remember, an EGR Valve, at least in the 80's, was an EGR Valve. There was a sensor that bolted to the valve that told the computer what position the valve was in (open, closed or partially open)

My daughter just recently purchased a 1993 Limited from an older gentleman. It came with a Haynes manual that covers 1991 through 2000 Explorers. I just took a quick look in it. There is a section in the book that covers testing the EGR and Pressure Feedback System (with illustrations). I believe Advance Auto Parts sells the latest Haynes for about $16.00 to $19.00.

You can also access the manual online at autozone.com.
