:can: When was the last tune up? Any recent workdone to it? Try and give us a bit more to go on. How does it idle in park? Does it just die, or spudder and fart? Let us know.

fluid levels?

just did plugs, coolent senser eec sencer fuel relay senser also fuel regularor and fuel filter and pump.
a littel hard to start but when started it sputters a bit .
when load is put on sputters more and sometimes stalls

:can: :burnout: Check out all the electrical connections, check for vac leaks, especially at regulator. Clean your MAFsensor with some carb cleaner. Air filter? After that I'd check for good spark. Hows your volts?

Check The Oxygen Sensor

cleaned maf sensor still the same have a little more power but still drops idle when tranny engaged

how do you check oxygen sensor??????/

:can: unplug the wire off the O2 sensor. with engine cold use a volt meter, red to the O2 sensor, ground wire to the frame. Start the truck. let run and warm up. the sensor should run a neutral signal, probably around 0.4 volts. after about five minutes it should fluctuate from 0.1 volts to 0.9 volts. if it doesn't it is probably no good. '91 has one upstream O2 sensor which DOES control air/ fuel mixture. 0.1being high oxygen lean mix, and 0.9 being low oxygen rich mix. This signal determines the required fuel injecter pulse width and controls the engine air/fuel ratio. :smoke: :burnout:

i will try the o2 senser thing
would it also be the reason i smell alot of fuel out the exahust????
and if so is there any way to clean them rather than spend 99.99 on a new one??????x2

Did it run good before the work

Has me wondering about fuel pressures at the rail.

That's what Iwas wondering earlier but he has changed his FPR, pump, and filter.

:smoke: :burnout: Definately check the o2s like i suggested. rev the engine millivolts should flucuate with RPM after it is warm.If they don't, it's no good.

th o2s shouldnt make it do that

i ran with out (my only) oxygen sensor for years with out replacing it. all replacing it did was turn the check engine light off =)

well guys after all that i have done and all your input it still runs like s***but at least it stars now but when i put it in gear it drops down to about 400 rpm then sputers and stalls if i keep my foot on the brake and gas it moves a bit better but not great .

need it for work bus ride to t.o. getting longer every day any other suggestions i can try?????

found some good cats at the wreckers will be installing them this weekend will try to replace o2 sensers then if i can.CAN O2 SENSERS BE CLEANED??????any and all help is appreciated .

Makes me wonder if i should have bought a Lada???//

Is it blowing any smoke? Tranny fluid level is ok? What happens if you try starting when in 1 or 2, and not D? Have you tried a bottle of gas treatment in the tank?

some do some don't

there are two different types of O2S. Downstream, and upstream. Downstream O2S has no effect on PCM control of air/fuel ratio. The upstream O2S send signal to the PCM (computer), which monitors this variable voltage continuously to determine the required fuel injector pulse width and to control the engine air/fuel ratio of 14.7:1 at all times.
You must have had the downstream O2S unplugged.
The upstream definitely will make it do that.

well i am about to lose my mind!!!!!! mow we are throughing smoke out the back like a smoke greanade(blue)with a strong odour of fuel
sounds like it is running on 3 cylinders and sputters and coughs all over the place i dont have a clue?????Please help!!!!!!!!!

Your symptoms sure sound like the fuel pressure regulator. Are you sure it was replaced? Check to make sure there is a good vac source to it. Sometimes if they are bad there will be fuel coming out the vac nipple on the regulator.
