Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone can give me some help with how to remove the panel that is shown in the photo. Thanks in advance.

I am installing an NMO mount for my 2 way radio antenna, but it seems to be too difficult to find a place to drill into the roof...too worried about getting into the HVAC system or wires...

actually, I removed it months ago to ***** the sheetmetal damage when my wife backed into our neighboors mailbox...
From what I remember, it's help in place by metalic "springs/clips" you need to pry off the plastic piece little by little, by pulling perpendicular to the surface. Start by a corner and work your way around the entire perimeter of the part. Good luck!

Have you considered a mag mount? I used one along with a 'rubber ducky' antenna for my ham radio when I had the Highlander. It worked great around town and no problem getting in the garage. I used a larger antenna for trips.
Not sure if a mag mount would work for your requirement.

Thanks for the information. I actually had a mag mount, but am looking for a cleaner install. I purchased the new Antennex phantom series antenna which can be more easily stolen without a perminant mount.

Just had a look at their website. It doesn't look like they have a single antenna for a dualband VHF/UHF radio. Would have to install two. Doesn't really matter since there doesn't seem to be a good place to mount the radio anyway. Even if I could mount it, I'd have to get a hands free mic because of the new 'distracted driving' law.
