Help removing rods from latch

i bought a new latch for my 01 explorer and i got all the exterior panels and good stuff aout of the way. I cannot get the rods to pop out of the latch i even tried to burn one of the snaps to remove one. My big hands and me being left handed on the drivers side door dont help any suggestions...or tricks...................mine had the broken spring i temporarily bypassed this so it wont automatically lock but i would like to put my new latch in...please help

Are you changing a door latch? If you are talking about those little plastic clips, you have to rotate them to release the rod.
