I have a 98 X with a problem t-case. after being in the shop twice in three weeks, the t-case let go again. This time I said enough is enough and sacked up to take it down myself and split it. After I split the case, I found out that there isn't really that much to it, and the only thing wrong was a broken fork. I bought a new fork and proceeded to put it back together. I realized then that one thing i wish i had known beforehand was the order in which it goes back together. I put the shift rod and the fork rod in their holes, tried to put the chain on while trying to align the rods to their other holes. as i was covered in permatex all over my arms, i heard a ping...it was the pin on the end of the shift rod. I now have to get a new one due to my lack of knowlege, and at the Ford garage it is $60 for that little thing. Please help me out with any info you can give. I have an exploded view, but it doesn't tell me much about reassembly. Thanks much in advance!

I would greatly appreciate any info. I am stranded without a car for nowand it is not good with my wife and two kids. I would appreciate even a temporary solution as i am going to trade my X in on a fuel efficient car or crossover.

Wish I could help out. I have a 4405 in the garage I was thinking about rebuilding. But they're just so cheap to get on eBay it's almost not worth it.

Hopefully someone will chime in who has successfully rebuilt theirs. But welcome to the forum!

Thanks for the welcome! I couldn't find any 4405s on ebay for cheap, and I will have less than $100 in if I can get it back together. I have been trying to find some kind of info on the case but to no avail. Thanks again.

No help... but I'm curious, did you figure it out? I'm looking at doing mine this weekend.
