Help! Right Bank running rich!

OHH, I bet that is what's going on then. What is the best way to check it for leaks? Would the header just need to be reset or would it be something wrong with the manifold?

You are running advance adapter headers that were modified to clear your trans correct?

The header itself could be leaking, yes (crack in the weld, etc)

Forst pin point the leak with the engine running (PITA)
then remove header if it is where the leak is occuring and inspect it
if it checks out, re-seal it to the block.
reset computer and try again :)

Yes I am running the Advanced Adapter headers, they have been modified slightly because they were touching the spark plugs and wires on the drivers side. So, that may be where it happened.

I was underneath it just a few minutes ago, there is some wierd sound like clicking or something somewhere in the exhaust system. It was hard to tell where it is coming from though.

Ok, it is in at the SCT tuner shop. They have found a few exhaust leaks in the passenger side exhaust. This is opposite the bank that is running rich.(driver's side) Is it possible that the exhaust leaks on the passenger side were causing the driver's side bank to run rich?

They also drove it and said that the power feels about right. He didn't suspect any internal damage. Later tonight they are putting it on the dyno to figure out the a/f ratio and such. Are we any closer to figuring this out?

Ok, I had it in a my local SCT Tuning shop. After two full days of it sitting around in their shop, they drove it around the block and told me that it was just fine! :thumbdwn: They wouldn't even look at it or find out my A/F ratios. They had no idea why it was running rich, or even if it was.

I then had it into the exhaust shop where they patched up multiple exhaust leaks and replaced a header gasket. It now sounds 500 times better! It runs and performs pretty good, but still, the exhaust on the driver's side is VERY GASSY. The passenger side burns very clean, but the driver side is dirty. Everyone tells me that it can't be running rich...if that is the case...why is that side so gassy? I have no codes and no CEL.

Bump.
Any ideas of why the exhaust is so dirty on the one side?

still yhaving the power issues or no?
No more CEL?

I still think I have a power issue, although when the shop drove it they though that the power was just fine. The jerking and jumping has been resolved though. No codes whatsoever.

Well I know my BII hauls ass, but I have 4.10 gears and 33's.....the 5.0L screams but it still could use another 100 HP IMO :)

Drive ti for a bit and see what you think, I would check the trans fluid and rear diff fluid as well just to be sure.

The running rich on one side, if you are still really worried (NO CEL = I dont think u have an issue, especially if when scanning the computer all checks out A/F ratio wise)
is back to basics, spark and injectors.

I have never had my A/F ratios checked. I think I might have an issue there, can any shop around town check that out for me?

How can tranny and diff fluid affect power?

trans fluid level can cause slipping and converter issues. The converter is what puts the power to the ground! You still have the 7.5 back there if its aging it can cause drag on the driveline, so can dragging brakes, not likely but something to think about.

Scantool.net and you can check the ratios yourself, forever :)
