help whats wrong with my x

when i shift into drive the rpms keep going up with the speed ( at 40 mph 3,000 rpm's and o/d off light flashes ) whats wrong. is it the tranny? if so what could it be and what could be the damage to my wallet?

Need to get the trouble codes read if you don't have a code reader. Before that, everything else is pure speculation.

ok i dont have one so i hope that auto zone is open in the tomorrow so i can borrow one then

ok heres the codes that showed up b1233 and b1234 left and right front speed input sensor missing i know that there both there ive taken the wheels off and can see them and the speedo still works

If You got the codes read at Autozone or Advance they can't read tranny codes, you need a more advanced scanner than the ones they have. Those codes are not related to your tranny issues. The flashing OD light tells you that there are DTC's(diagnostic trouble codes) for the tranny stored in the computers memory. With those rpm's at that speed the tranny doesn't seem to be shifting past 3rd gear. Unless you can find a scanner to read tranny codes your best shot is having a repair shop read them for you. The speedo gets it's signal from the speed sensor in the rear differential.
