Hi Everyone!

I'm new to this forum, and need help!

I have a 94 Eddie Bauer Explorer, that we dearly loved! It's been a great vehicle for us, and ideal for kids, dogs, horses, country living, etc. But, a bad heater core led to two cracked heads. My parents found a 98 XLT Explorer, in Washington, in excellent shape, so I bought it.

The problem is that I've only had the truck for two days, and the rear passenger window is stuck down! Neither the driver's switch nor the passenger rear switch will make it budge. I went to the local Ford dealer, and they quote $300.00  to start with, to fix it. I don't have $300.00, and need help fast! We're in Northern Calif, and are expecting rain!

How can I get this window up??? HELP!!!!

Thank you!
Susan

Go to a window only place that does vehicles. I had the same problem when I went to Moab last year. I had to drive home with it down 900miles.

It cost me around $150 to have a new motor installed. Was going to do it my self but didn't want to mess with the sissors.

ran into the same problem almost a year ago and had to drive for almost 4 hours home with the front window down.. came home and ordered a new window motor and replaced it myself in under 2 hours.. not a bad job at all to handle

chepo temp fix, hit up a junk yard and get another door. i picked up one for 60$ with a 30 day warranty on the window motor.

I found a motor on eBay for my old SUV for 35 bucks. Its surprisingly easy to install. Just take the door panel off and take a look. I was able to push the window back up and jam it there by clamping a pair of vise grips on the channel just below the window. That held it for a few weeks till my motor came.

I have a 97 that had/has the same problem. I found out that the switch on the pass. side changed the polarity and on mine it was the switch that was bad. The driver side switch went thru the pass switch which made that switch not work also. So I temp. took some wire and ran directly from the driver side to pass side switch
eliminating the pass switch. Works fine. To test to see if your motor does go up and down just go directly from your batt. or another batt. and switch the ground and pos. completly bypassing any switch to see if the motor does go oppesite direction. It was a PITA to wire though. Had to wire from driver door along side other wires that came from door, under dash and back thru other door. Or just wire directly up like I mentioned just to get it up to stay there untill fixed properly. Could just be the polarity thing.
