I just got a white '96 explorer that is right now completely stock, but I'm am hoping to change this. Does anybody know what the biggest tires I can put on it are without a lift?? And I heard that to lift it I don't even need a kit, all I need is a torsion bar adjustment, ture or not?? Thanks guys!!

You can lift the front for free (you will need to get an alignment though). All you do is tighten up the torsion bars. The rear is not free. You will need a set of Warrior shackles (part no. War-153). Do a search for useful information or something. Someone posted a "how to" for this lift. You will get about 2" of lift.

I'm pretty much in the same boat. I have a white 96 sport. I was going to buy myself a new truck until the wife wanted a new car. Now I figure I will just mod mine until it looks bad arse.

Are the only lift options the TT and the Shackles? I read somewhere in the forum about OME Springs but I couldn't find a good website for them. I was also looking for a WWW for a body lift that will work with my ride but was unble to find one. If I was to go with the shackles which ones would I get. I see that warrior is recomended but what part#

I found this lift kit the other day but I'm not sure how much lift it will give you and it runs for about $1,700

Yes, I am a newbie so I apologize in advance for anything I did now or in the future.

Thanks

Carl

You can get 31's on with hardly any problems, maybe 32's with a TT and shackles. I am running P265/70/R16 on mine now and I don't have any problems.

I did the TT shackle lift and have 31s with room to spare. I'm not sure about 32s, but I think with th TT Shackle lift you might be able to get them under your truck without too much trouble

Good Luck

I did the TT/Shackles and ran 31s and it looked like I could easily run 32's. So I bought some and I was wrong.

You have a few options for lifting your 95+ these days:
1) 4" Superlift
2) 2" or 3" Parformance Accessories Body Lift (Use 95-97 Ranger)
3) Warrior Shackles PN WAR-153 (for the rear) 1 1/2" or so
4) Pro Comp (or other such) Add-a-leafs 1 1/2" (for rear)
5) SOA Conversion (5" or so I think) (rear again)

Theres probably tons more. The hardest part, which you can see, is lifting the front. You'll have tons of options for the back. Just look at other member's lifts and if you see one you like just ask what exactly they did. And search around on the board.

Since the front is an issue, and I don't like body lifts, I opted for the low and mean look. I have 2.25" of lift via TT, shackles, 4door leafs, and a single aal (addaleaf). I have 33x12.5" tires stuffed under there. The rear isn't a problem, however I've already trimmed a bunch in the front and it still rubs. Coming soon are flared fiberglass front fenders for more room :D

Alec, have you thought about clear fronts? I think they would be sweet lookin for your all black look.

Hmmmm, the money always has a better place to go.....
