Ok, here it goes again. I kinda figured out what happend to my 4wd. I went into the owners manual to find fuses/relays that control the 4wd. I went under the hood, and to my horror, the main fuse/relay block had been changed out! None 98 Mounty stuff was in there. Just a basic block. The fuse for the 4wd is gone, and the fuses for a few others are gone too, Now what I need is this:

1998 Mercury Mountaineer Body harness wire diagram with colors.

1998 Mercury Mountaineer 5.0 302 Engine Harness wiring diagram w/colors

1993 Mustang Cobra GT 302 Enging Harness Wiring diagram w/colors

I have not been able to find these, so any help would be great, If I can get everything to work with this Cobra transplant, I will be able to let others on the forum know what they need to perform the swap from an OBDi Cobra 400Hp engine into a OBDII Mounty Explorer. I am an electronic technician, and can figure out everything I need to get it right, including re-routing some of the harness. Any help would be great...

Ok, well I figured out a few things. My OBDI computer was coding out EGR AIRB/AIRD codes. After last night pulling the throtle body off(70mm BBK) and looking around. I found that the EGR was cut off from the passenger side manifold. Now I have a few wires I think are associated to the EGR. Here are the colors:

White / 2 pink
Red / 2 Blue
Brown / Yellow

The 2 means 2 stripes.
I need to know what wires go to the EGR AIR injector that was removed, and what resistance was needed for them. I think I can trick the computer to think that it is there when it isn't. Everytime my check engine light comes on, it sends my computer into limp mode. I also have a weird code for the fuel pump, even thought it is running great. Go figure. I can make this work. I just need some help with the wiring harness.

Thanks guys

Ouch, I feel for you, but I hate it when people think that the best answer is to gut existing wiring and/or systems and use older stuff. The people who swapped the old engine system(EECIV) into that truck made your job far far harder.

The stock OEM PCM can handle any engine modification with new PCM programming. That means one required aftermarket part, the flashers like the SCT ExCal I/II/III versions.

The OEM 4WD systems installed for the V6 trucks will work with the TOD type transfer cases, like the BW4406 people have used. Which TC exactly do you have in the truck? That determines what kind of controls you can use from existing wiring, and what parts you need to run it. The stock V6 4WD's have GEM's with some of the 4WD controls in them.

Wow, I hate to think of that wiring work needed. It most likely would be far easier to yank the non Explorer parts off, and install easy to find Explorer parts.

For the engine, what is different from a stock Explorer 302? All Explorer 302's are GT40 engines, they all have GT40 intakes and heads. The mid 97 302's got the GT40P head, and the EGR headers. The Explorer cam is the same truck cam as all roller truck 302's. Best of luck with that.
