I've got a 2000 AWD with the rear disc brakes and parking brake shoes. My parking brake will work if I push it pretty hard but it will still roll backwards after I take my foot of the regular brake. This weekend I took a look at the rears (acually swapped out my new pads for some new ceramics) and the shoes have about 1/4" of material on them (which according to my Haynes manual is above the bottom limit). The rotors are brand new.
Anyway, I was clicking away on the adjustment thing and could not get it to completely stop the tire from turning. To be honest, I don't even know which way to move the clicker because both ways seemed to make no difference. According to the manual you should move the clicker until the tire cannot be moved and then back off 8 clicks.
Does anyone have any experience with this? I would put new shoes if I thought it would help but like I said they appear to have pleanty of material. Oh, another thing I noticed was that the rubber boot on the cable was rubbed off by a bolt on the frame. Nice design Ford
The cable was fine, but I figure I should put a rubber cover on the bolt so it doesn't get any worse.
