Any mechanics here? I have a 94 Ford Exploderand my brake lights are not working. The Tail lights work fine but the Brake lights do not come on at all! Also, my ABS light is on also...would this cause the ABS light to come on? Would a blown bulb cause all the brake light not to work as well as the ABS light to come on? Thanks alot for the help!

Will

Have you checked all the fuses? If not that is always a good place to start, other than that it could be the sending unit attached to the brake pedal that sends the signal to the brake lights

I would guess that it is probably electrical since the lights should work even if the brakes don't

A bad brake light switch would cause the lights not to work, and may cause an ABS light. I'd first check the bulbs, and if they are ok, goto your brake light switch and jump the two wires and if the brake lights come on replace the switch.

do you go offroading? ive noticed b4 that old bulbs break after a romp in the desert. remember that there are two filiments in your bulbs... one for running the other for brakes. so your running light can work even if your brake lights do not. id check bulbs first its like what a buck for a package?

A faulty brake light switch will cause the ABS light to come on. This happens because the ABS control module is reciving a signal from the wheel sensors that the vehicle is slowing, yet it is not reciving a signal from the switch that the pedal has been pressed.

Exactly. You may also experience problems getting your truck out of park.

Well, for the Brake lights it ends up that it is the switch. I just have to take off the Neg terminal and hopefully it will reset the computer. Thanks Guys!

How do you change or clean the ABS sensor in the rear?
