ok, right now i have some thules, but i dont have gutters , so they dont even fit my car. im going to sell them, and get new racks. i dont like the look of the factory racks though.

so i have the rails that the stock racks go on they are still on the car. what kind of racks should i buy?

I just want 2 ones that go across. whats the best deal.
after this, im adding a bike carrier, and some ski racks. thanks for the help.

also where should i buy these racks? i dont know what kind to buy that will mount on the explorer good.

oh yeah.. if it makes it any cheaper.. ill reuse my bars from my thule system -- they are almost rectangular. i just cant use the other part, because its gutter mounted

I only have experience with Yakima. Haven't had any complaints with it.
It bolts/clamps onto the stock racks.

ok, so get the kind that goes on to the stock tracks. i saw one of those online. then should i just get 50 inch bars?

heck, you might want to check with carparts.com......I bought my Safari rack there....it just simply fits over the factory rack..... not that you're looking for a rack like that but........ also check thule's web site..... I got their catalogue and there's pretty much a rack for everything....

good luck

i ended up getting the track mount thing, its sweet. ill get up pics when i get my bike rack and ski rack on there. i also put a new cb antenna on tonight. peace out

what brand did you get?

i got the track mtn.ed thule system. reused my old thule bars. im getting the bike and ski stuff soon
