but couldnt find a good answer, in fact, theres so many I may as well not even have searched, a little overwhelming lol. Heres my question..

99 Mounty, all stock. Theres a hole in the muffler and where it meets the passenger side pipe weld. I wouldnt mind a little deeper tone, but Im mainly looking for something to help with mpg. Also need it to be installed simply to keep cost down. Ive read that anything is better than stock, and was interested in the flowmaster 40, is that the one with dual outlets that can be used backwards? If so does anyone have a part number? Its the old ladies truck so for this truck Im more interested in getting the best mileage over performance, although sound would be nice.

Im also searching posts for other mods that can help with mpg so If you know of a good one please post it. I saw something about drilling holes in the air box? And I remember something about the silencer? I was looking through muffler posts tho so wasnt really looking into that stuff, now I cant find it lol. Thanks guys

Which engine?

You can get Walker direct fit, muffler and you want the resonator too probably. If you shop around you can get a really good price and no shipping charges. IIRC you want a gasket and some new bolts for the flange. Some clamps too.

Only things worthwhile in terms of fuel consumption is air filter, air in tires, replacing worn spark plugs and oxygen sensors, and ethanol free gasoline. Good oils are also a plus.

I got the Walker muffler and resonator form Rock Auto, plus clamps. I don't think a gasket was needed on my install.
