i dont think its loud music laws.. I think its noise pollution laws, maybe distrubance of peace if youre doing it @ 3:00 in the morning???

But for the most part, I think youd get the same ticket for bumping your system annoyingly loud as you would for having an annoyingly loud exhaust, being noise pollution. Knowing what the exact violation name is now, you should be able to find plenty on the internet, and even more at your local library.

ya steve is right, here in cali youd get a ticket for "noise pollution" if you were bumpin your system too loud by a popo

Township Clerks in NJ (at the municipal and county levels) can give you chapter and verse on all noise pollution and disturbing the peace laws. I think you should think "decimals levels" instead of music......I don't think most laws want to touch artist stuff...ask a lawyer friend.

I don't know how you state governement is set up.... but try the source.

Don't let them give you a run around they have to tell you...its their jobs....but they are usually helpful and nice anyway.

You could always crank up the volume drive through town and then go through the process. Sounds like a "+A" paper to me : "Two days in the Slammer - The Cost of Full Volume".... talk with the other inmates, get opinions???????

sorry...just a thought

In Alabama there is a music law. If your radio can be heard for more than 50 feet you get a ticket. Pretty stupid huh. I told that to the judge and I still had to pay.:fire: 50 ft really isn't that far. Plus it's distubing the peace after 10 at night here if it's too loud.

Does the cop at least have to identify the name of the song or just is it:

"Yeep that's music"

I wonder if commericals jiggles count... like during during the local news?

"Yeep that's music too"

Nothing like giving yourself latitude.

its not music...its noise. for instance exhaust, music, talk radio, PAs, they are all the same

yep, its noise, although I got busted for music also, only in my home. I guess some woman a few houses down could hear my stereo and had a **** fit, village law here says that 50+ feet is a violation of noise pollution laws here. But that would be the same thing if I was doing anything loud enough to be heard 50ft away... Guess Ill have to make sure my gf keeps it down.. eh? ;)

I'm still trying to get a copy of the actual law here in AL but is strictly for radios and not just noise. We also have a noise violation but a seperate radio one also that is enforced harder and fined higher. I'll post the copy when I get my hands on it.

so does that mean if you see your friend outside (50 ft. away), and say "Hey Joe, what's up?" is that also noise pollution? you can hear people talking 50 feet away. if you honk your horn, it can be heard more than 50 ft. away.

No from what they told me it is just if the cop can hear your radio for more than 50ft. I don't know what the regular noise ordinace rules are. The cop that got me was at the Burger King like 3 lanes over from me and he gave me my ticket. You guys don't take what i'm saying to far because i'm not sure if what the lawyer, cop, and judge told me is the truth or not. I'm just telling you guys what they told me. I hope they wasn't lying to me. That would suck because i paid 250 for the ticket.

The cop that pulled me over told me it was 50 feet. This was at 3 am w/ dead silence. obviously the volume isn't the only factor, if I was in downtown nyc you can't hear it as good as you can out in the boonies. Also I was told that there is a 3 strike rule, 1 strike you get a verbal, 2nd strike you get a ticket and the 3rd strike they confiscate your stereo. warnings expire after 10 days. I have gotten 3 warnings from 3 different cops in 2 years so it just depends if you run across the same cop :D You also have to watch your tinted windows, I had legal limit put on but when I got pulled over they said it was over because of my factor glaze. He said I had to take it off, just not when. :p

It's endless
I guess Delta and the other airlines must have a big no fly zone over AL..... think about that one! maybe that have to glide over AL?

No one ever said it was a rational society.

I hear ya. Maybe I should have said something about his siren being too loud when he pulled me over. That would have been fun. Well they also gave me a ticket this year for having distracting lights on my car christmas eve. I had some christmas lights designed for a vehicle on it and a state trooper turned around and stopped me. I run them for over 3 years and this is the first year they have said anything. If anyone is wondering why I started doing it. I use to work at a christmas store and all of us got the lights free and so we put them on. AL has some weird laws but i'm sure they aren't near as strict as some of the bigger cities.

Man sounds like you guys that are having noise problems need to get out of the boonies. Just last night at 2 AM I pulled up next to a cop at a stop light with my system full blast on a Bass CD and he barely gave me a second glance. Then later one drove by me while I was in a drive thru at Wendys. Probably had to go to a 187 or something but anyways I guess they could have got me for noise but also I am 16 and city curfew is 12 AM here in Dallas county. Oh well what can I say cops could care less around here unless it is a homicide or assault or such. They don't even show up at the keggers anymore. My friend that has 4 JL W3 12s and two JL 600/1 amps hasn't had a problem with any poe poe and he always has it jacked up. I can hear him comin down the tollroad about 3/4 of a mile away. To tell u the truth we have some pretty easygoing poe who really don't give us teenagers many problems.
