Grinding; does it grind in a pattern that sounds like whatever is making the grind is 'spinning'? Is the grind a deep heavy grind or a light tin metal grind? I'd guess the sound only happens when you are moving and turning the wheel and not when standing still and turning?

If when moving:
-I'd wager it's either the sheet metal dust shield behind your brake rotor rubbing against your rotor, if it is a light tin metal sound.
-Or your wheel hub assembly if it is a heavier grinding sound.

its ur wheel bearings.

how would i go about fixing this? parts/time etc.

If it is your wheel bearings, you'll need to replace your front wheel hub assembly. About $120 in parts (the assembly itself) and it'll take you 1-2 hours to fix, I'd guess.

Take the tire off
Take the CV axle nut off
Take the brake caliper off (2 15mm bolts)
Take the brake rotor off
Take the hub off (3 15mm bolts)
Disconnect the ABS wheel speed sensor wire from the hood area
Slide old hub off.
Slide new hub on and work backwards from the order above.

Is the basic how-to guide.

I have the exact same problem with my explorer that ur having.. i'll be in the drive thru and turn left around the corner and you can hear it grind its annoying as hell.. i just had an alignment and he said my wheel bearings were loose and they tighten them and it still didn't fix the problem so i'm thinking they're just bad.. even the guy at the shop figured it was the bearings but ofcourse wanted me to bring it back on another day (for more time and labor) to find out what it really is lol.

If you end up having to replace your hub(s), this thread will help.
