99 mountineer
Anyway I bought a steering column from one of the guys here on the board to fit my mountaneer. Well all electrical hook ups work and fit but one. And that is the one with the bright yellow cord. I have a 1999 mountaineer and got a explorer steering column I think 2000 Well there are 6 plugs on the 1999 model on the yellow line and 8 on the 2000 I dont want to pull the stearing wheel again but may have to Now what I am guessing is that I have to put my old steering wheel back on with it's electronics to work.

What controls do you have on your original steering wheel? And the new one?

First Tony quit welcomeing me to the site. I have been here for quite some time. LOL

I will check it when I get home.

Thanks for helping me

Tony is on my ignore list. ;)

Yellow loom always means airbag system. Its probably the clock spring harness. Sounds like you may have to swap clock springs to get everything to plug in like stock.

That's where I was going with my question. There's extra wires if one of them has radio or climate controls and the other does not.

Hey snoranger. Whats happening...

Thats what i figured. I can check the clockspring I have at home for my (eventual) steering wheel (with radio controls) swap, and see how many wires it has.

Not much, how'd the body lift go?

All is well. I went with 2" instead. Modified the front kit brackets and modified the stock rear brackets with some extra holes and all is right with the world again. Thanks for asking.

here is the follow up on what I am doing.

I am replacing the siemans control for the new tumbler to match the computer

The yellow cover that all the wires come through has a 8 point hook up on the explorer colums. My Mounty has a 6 wire hook up. So I am taking the 8 off the steering column and replacing it with the 6 that was on my old Mounty colum. Thei means there is a round disk that has all one end hooking there. So I will have a explorer column but witll have all the steerng wheel and airbag electronics from the mounty. Does this make sense
Peter

PS TONI GO AWAY LOL!

Yes that makes sense. The explorer had radio and climate controls on the wheel. That accounts for the 2 extra wires in the plug. That round disc is called a "clock spring". It has all of the contacts for the air bag, cruise control and the audio/climate controls if the vehicle had them. Switching the clock spring and wiring from the mounty makes it easier.
